Shilpa invites IPL 'rival' Preity to Holi bash. Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta have been portrayed as IPL rivals ever since the former bought a stake in the Rajasthan Royals team. How much of this ‘rivalry’ is media projection and how much reality remained a matter of speculation until Shilpa decided to clear the air by inviting Preity over to a pre-Holi grand party at Grand Hyatt on March 10. The bash, hosted jointly by Shilpa and her businessman beau Raj Kundra, is to celebrate their entry into the IPL. Speaking about sending the invite to Preity, Shilpa told a news agency: "I really want these unsavoury rumours about our rivalry to end. On an impulse I sent an SMS to Preity inviting her for the party that Raj and I are hosting." However, Preity won’t be attending the bash because she would be out of town on March 10.Shilpa told the agency that she was pleasantly surprised when Preity replied back.
Amitabh Bachchan won't celebrate Holi. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his family won’t celebrate the festival of colours, Holi, this year as well. The Bachchans have been giving a miss to Holi for last several years. While in the past the reasons for not celebrating have been personal, this year the elite family of Bollywood feels the spirit of the festival of spring has been dampened by the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. "That joyous spirit has been dampened by the atrocities that our city faced on 26/11. In its wake somewhere inside us there is a reluctance to involve ourselves in any kind of exhibition. Professional work is understandable, but private excesses do not find favor in our hearts," Big B wrote in his blog.
Shahrukh Khan as God of love?
Much has been speculated about Shahrukh Khan ’s role in director Mudassar Aziz’s film Dulha Mil Gaya . The latest bit of rumour says the superstar plays the God of love in the Vivek Vaswani-produced film which has been in the making for god knows how long! SRK doesn’t play a naked winged boy with bow and arrow in hands. He rather plays a serene God of love who even indulges in some stunts. It can be recalled that while shooting one of these stunts, SRK injured his shoulder and had to recently undergo a surgery at a Mumbai hospital. However, SRK doesn’t play a central role in ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’. He’s not even second fiddle to the lead hero Fardeen Khan . Sources say SRK has just a guest appearance that’s restricted to a few scenes and a song that’s yet to be shot on SRK, Fardeen and the film’s leading lady, Sushmita Sen. The film got stuck on floors after producer Vivek Vaswani increased SRK’s role from a cameo to a full-fledged one, much to the dismay of the superstar who’s apparently doing the film for free since Vaswani is, or at least was, his friend.
Aishwarya Rai to show her singing talent
It would be interesting to hear what kind of singing voice the spotless beauty Aishwarya Rai has! Yes, the Bollywood stunner is now set to wield the microphone and show her singing skills for a song composed by music director duo of Vishal and Shekhar. The duo has earlier made Abhishek Bachchan sing to their hip-hop tune “Right Here Right Now” in Bluffmaster . Vishal-Shekhar have also recorded a rap song with Amitabh Bachchan for the upcoming film Aladdin . However, the duo reveals that they had to do much cajoling to convincing Ash to sing. The doe-eyed actress will record the song soon, but the composer duo don’t know where they would use the song – in a movie or a private album. Without worrying about how the song will be used, Vishal-Shekhar wants to record it before Ash changes her mind. Meanwhile, Ash’s latest Hollywood film Pink Panther 2 releases in India today and, contrary to rumours, she doesn’t have a blink-and-you’ll-miss role in the movie.
A R Rahman to spend more time in Hollywood? After winning two Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards, music composer A R Rahman is planning to take up more projects in Hollywood. However, that doesn’t mean that the Mozart of Madras is saying goodbye to India. Rahman says he will now have to balance work in India with work in the US. “50 per cent of the year I might be there (US), the rest over here,” Rahman recently told a tabloid. The talented composer, who on Saturday won two Filmfare Awards for his compositions in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and his background score in Jodhaa Akbar , says he would have to say no to some projects in India to be able to take out time to “stay put in the US”. Now that Rahman has become a known face in the West, he wants to spend some time in the US to be able to establish a base and make connections. Meanwhile, back home in Chennai, Rahman was felicitated by Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala for having made India proud with his double Oscar win.
