Katrina Kaif as Barbie Doll in American museum So far she had sashayed the ramp dolled up as Barbie. Now, Katrina Kaif will be the face and body of the popular doll for the Barbie Museum in New York. It’s an honour being bestowed on an Indian actress for the first time. Bollywood had so far made its presence felt at the Madame Tussauds’ museum in London and New York (where there’s going to be a new Bollywood zone). But Katrina has now become the first Indian beauty on whom the Barbie Doll will be modeled at the Barbie Museum. “The customised Barbie being made for the American museum will be just like me,” Katrina is quoted by a news daily. Katrina, who was chosen as Miss Barbie at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai to mark the celebration of 50 years of Barbie earlier this year, had expressed her jubilation on being selected for the honour. “I’d call it a fun honour. To have your face on dolls that you’ve played with from childhood is quite flattering...And I think in many ways it's an endorsement of how kids connect with me,” Katrina had said. It is one thing to be the face of Barbie dolls, but another to have a replica of Barbie modeled on you and placed in the museum for public display. Only few beauties like Beyonce Knowles and Diana Ross have received that honour. Now, Katrina joins the list.
Aishwarya Rai looking extraordinary in 'Action Replay' The Bollywood stunner has been sitting for long make-up sessions while shooting Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s movie Action Replay in Karjat. If you’ve been stumped by the plumed and feathered look of Ash in the stills of her Tamil film Endhiran , wait to see her makeover in Vipul Shah’s strangely themed film ‘Action Replay’ with Akshay Kumar . Reports had it that Ash has been reporting late for shoots on the sets of the film at Nitin Desai studios in Karjat, but director Vipul Shah says the actress has to sit for long make-up sessions to get her look right for every scene. Aishwarya has an extraordinary look in the film. We always knew it would take time for her to get ready because of which we had planned the shoots accordingly,” Shah recently told a tabloid. The director not just dismissed the reports of Ash’s late arrival on the sets, he goes on to laud her for the extra effort she’s putting in. “In fact, she is working 15 hours every day for my film,” Shah is quoted as saying. ‘Action Replay’ is based on a unique concept. It’s a film in which the story progresses backwards in time. Pooja Chopra singularly focused on Miss World pageant
Miss India-World Pooja Chopra is singularly focused on preparing for the Miss World 2009 contest. She’s leaving no stone unturned to win the coveted crown. From morning to night, Pooja’s daily schedule is chock-a-block with preparations for the crown that hasn’t been won by any Indian beauty since Priyanka Chopra in year 2000. Nine years have passed, and Pooja, who was crowned Miss India-World earlier this year, is determined to win the jewel-studded tiara. “I can't tell you how busy I am with Miss World preparations. It demands full concentration and at this moment winning the crown holds top priority in my life,” Chopra is quoted by a news agency. Pooja is undergoing different kinds of preparations to be her best at the pageant. “I start my day at 5.30 a.m. and after a hectic daily schedule I try to hit the bed by 11.00 p.m. I devote equal time to gym, diction, catwalk classes and my daily sessions with the dietician. Apart from this if I have to go to some event, then things become very hectic,” 23-year-old Pooja told the agency. Miss World 2009 will be held in South Africa. Last year, India’s Parvathy Omanakuttan missed the crown by just a whisker. She was the first runner up.
John Abraham in bed with fractured foot A deadly yorker from Indian pacer Laxmipathy Balaji ended up fracturing actor John Abraham’s foot. It happened on the sets of David Dhawan’s film Hook Yaa Crook in which John Abraham plays a prisoner, who, along with other inmates, win their freedom through a cricket match. While shooting a cricket sequence at the BPCL grounds in Chembur on Saturday, John was at the crease facing the seasoned Indian bowler Laxmipathy Balaji. The pacer bowled John a yorker that landed straight on the actor’s foot at the speed of 130 kph, and did the damage. Though the actor was given the first-aid and ice was applied to his swollen foot, John insisted he was ‘all right’ and shot for the film for a couple of hours. Director David Dhawan says when the day’s shoot was over, and John wore his chappals, he noticed that the actor’s foot had turned green and had swollen a lot. John got his foot checked at the Lilavati hospital where the doctors told him he had a fracture and advised him bed rest for a couple of weeks. The film’s shoot has expectedly been affected because of John’s fractured foot and will resume after he is fit to take the field.
