Sanjay Dutt in 'Qurbani' remake
After dedicating himself to politics for months, Sanjay Dutt is back in Bollywood. He is not only acting but also planning to produce movies, and the remake of the yesteryear hit Qurbani could be one of them. Earlier, it was Sanjay Gupta , once Dutt’s good friend but now a foe, who was set to make the new age Kurbani with Fardeen Khan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. But since Dutt has now reportedly taken over the project, Gupta will be dropped. The remake was all but shelved after the demise of Feroz Khan , but when Sanjay and Fardeen discussed it while shooting All The Best in Goa, both the actors decided to revive the project with Sanjay reportedly offering to produce it. In the remake, Fardeen will essay Feroz Khan’s character of a thief, but who will play his friend, essayed by Vinod Khanna , is not decided yet. Sanjay wants to play the role of a funny, gum-chewing inspector immortalized by Amjad Khan. The character will suit Sanjay as he has a great sense of comic-timing. Reports are that Bipasha Basu will be approached for the role of Zeenat Aman . Sanjay has yet to find a good director who can helm this ambitious project which is going to be high on action and style. As reports say he is considering directors like Apoorva Lakhia , Soham Shah or Sanjay Gadhvi , who are experts in handling action films.
'Kites' in Hindi as hot as in English While it was a forgone conclusion that the English version of Kites would be high on steamy scenes between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori , the Hindi version, it is learnt, would be equally hot. “We can't cheat Hindi audiences. The so-called steamy scenes will be the same in both versions. The visuals will remain unchanged in both,” the film’s director Anurag Basu tells IANS. Basu added that both versions would be almost same. The only difference would be voiceovers in Hindi and English by Hrithik Roshan for the two films respectively. “There won't be anything radically different in the two versions because Hrithik and Barbara speak English, Hindi and Spanish, respectively in both English and Hindi (versions),” Basu revealed to the agency. The film, set to release in December, is a love story between Hrithik and Barbara. Kangana Ranaut provides a third angle in the story.
I saw the real me in 'New York': Katrina Kaif Katrina Kaif says her character Maya in the Yashraj film ‘New York’ is very close to her real self. Just a week remains for New York to hit theatres and Katrina Kaif, along with her co-stars John Abraham , Neil Nitin Mukesh , Irrfan Khan and director Kabir Khan is busy promoting the film. The cast and crew held a press conference in Mumbai in which they answered questions related to the film. “I saw the real me in the film. When I first asked director Kabir Khan about my character, he told me that Maya is like every girl... ‘she is you without make up and costumes’...I realised that he was telling me to be myself in the film,” Katrina told a news agency about her role in the film. In the film, Kat plays Maya, an Indian girl born and brought up in New York. Neil plays a middle-class Indian guy named Omar who comes to study in New York where he meets Samir (John) an athletic, good-looking man quite popular in New York State University. The three become friends but their world collapses after 9/11 attacks. Speaking to the agency, John says the film doesn’t do any jingoistic America bashing. “It dwells on how the world and America looks at a certain community after the (9/11) attacks and vice versa. But it is not a jingoistic America bashing film. It shows both sides of the coin,” John is quoted as saying. Katrina who’s so far been eye-candy in comedy films with Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan says it’s important for an actor to experiment with the roles like the one she has in ‘New York’. “...if you stagnate, the growth is over. I have done many comedy films. Success of films like Partner , Singh Is Kinng gets you to a very wide audience reach. But for greater gains, you need to take greater gambles. If it works, you get respect and recognition,” the 24-year-old beauty said.
