Hrithik Roshan to reprise Leonardo DiCaprio’s role

Vishal Bharadwaj was so keen to have Hrithik Roshan in his film that he even agreed to delay it especially for the actor. So, what is so special about this movie that only Hrithik will do?
The Kaminey director is all set for a Bollywood remake of Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning film The Departed. It seems the Shakespearean influence on Vishal has finally departed. Nevertheless, according to sources, Vishal has signed Duggu to play a challenging role, played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the original film.
Like Leo, Hrithik will play an undercover cop in the film. The movie’s plot will be set in Mumbai, an apt location for a dark thriller like this. According to sources, Hrithik has to be fully fit by the time movie starts to roll; right now, he is suffering from a knee injury and has been warned not to indulge in any kind risky stunts. He also needs to perfect his martial arts skills and gun-totting abilities for the role by taking special classes from professionals.
However, who will play the role of another important character, played by Matt Damon is not yet known.
‘The Departed’ won four awards at the 79th Academy Awards and is billed as an “American epic tragedy”. Let’s see how Vishal interprets the film in an Indian setting.

Abhishek Bachchan & Kareena Kapoor turn a new leaf

Bollywood lost a good onscreen jodi on the day Karisma Kapoor broke her marriage with Abhishek Bachchan. It created such a rift between the Bachchans and the family of Randhir Kapoor that none from the Bachchan family worked with either Kareena Kapoor or Karisma thereafter.
Incidentally, Kareena and Abhishek Bachchan started their Bollywood journey with the same film, Refugee, and might have emerged as a pair to reckon with on screen. The two have avoided working together ever since Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon six years ago.
But now, Abhishek and Bebo are set to turn a new leaf. The duo seems to have agreed to let the demons of the past rest in peace and make a fresh start.
While previously they would not even entertain the thought of working together, now they have begun to consider the projects aimed at casting them.
Tarun Mansukhani, for instance, is learnt to be interested in roping in Kareena for the sequel to Dostana. Abhi and John Abraham are already confirmed for ‘Dostana 2’ and Kareena is most likely to be signed on as the new heroine.
Not just this, rumour has it that director duo Abbas-Mustan want to sign Abhishek and Kareena for their official Hindi remake of the Hollywood blockbuster movie ‘Italian Job’.
Looks like we might see Abhi and Bebo together sooner than expected.

Shahrukh Khan and Kajol’s Valentine treat

In a nation that produces around 600-700 films annually, most of the times film producers are in a fix as to when to release their films. The release date of Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan has been pushed to February 12, 2010 and now the movie is all set to cash in on Valentine’s Day romantic weekend.
Shahrukh Khan-Kajol starrer ‘My Name Is Khan’ is not a film about terrorism but a love story. “At its core, the film is an epic love story between two people who have a unique way of seeing the world,” K-Jo is quoted as saying.
Karan always tries to do something different in his films, but one thing that remains constant is his desire to show a man-woman relationship in a more profound way. “I keep setting out to do something different with my films, but the one constant that remains is my desire to continue to explore the many ways in which two people can fall in love and stay in love regardless of any or every challenge against them,” says director Karan Johar.
Well, as this movie is Karan’s most ambitious film till now, he is doing every bit to make it a huge success.
Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh is quoted as saying: “What makes ‘My Name is Khan’ a very special film is that it brings together the finest Indian talent with a powerful story that has relevance for audiences everywhere.”
Fox Star studios will market and distribute the film in India, while Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the movie in the US.
‘My Name Is Khan’ is about an unconventional hero Rizwan Khan (Shahrukh), who suffers from Asperger syndrome. It’s also as much about Mandira (Kajol), a Hindu single mother who marries Rizwan. The movie narrates the couple’s ordeal in America and Rizwan’s journey to clear his name.
