Hero passenger springs into action -

A hero passenger sprung into action when part of a car's suspension flew through the window of a coach knocking the driver out cold.
The giant spring - hurled up by another vehicle - shattered the windscreen and hit bus driver Wolfgang Mahler, 60, in the head, explained police in Essel, Germany.
"Luckily for everyone on board one of the passengers realized what had happened and grabbed the steering wheel," said one officer.
The bus - which had 28 passengers including a school football team - came to a halt safely 500 yards up the road, reports CEN.
"It was a freak accident. The spring had fallen out of one car and had been thrown up by another. The coach driver is recovering," added a police spokesman.

Crematorium to heat swimming pool?

A council has been criticised for plans to be the first in Britain to use its crematorium furnace to heat a swimming pool.
Town hall chiefs at Redditch want to use the excess heat to warm the pool at the neighbouring Abbey Stadium Sports Centre.
Council chiefs say it will save cash and is a greener way of powering the leisure centre - but local people have expressed concerns at the "eerie" proposals.
Simon Thomas, of Thomas Brothers Funeral Directors, said: "I don't know how comfortable people would feel about the swimming pool being heated due to the death of a loved one, I think it's a bit strange and eerie.
"I'm not comfortable with it at all and I think trying to save money due to the death of someone's family member or friend is a bit sick. It just doesn't feel right."
But council leader Carole Gandy defended the plan, saying: "I'd much rather use the energy rather than just see it going out of the chimney and heating the sky.
"It will make absolutely no difference to the people who are using the crematorium for services.
"I do recognise some people might not like it, but if they don't they don't have to use our crematorium. I wouldn't want them to do that but they have to make that choice."

Woman's phone eaten by crocodile -

Zookeepers in Ukraine didn't believe a visitor who claimed a crocodile ate her mobile phone - until they heard its stomach ringing.
Rimma Golovko, a new mum in her 20s, admits being at fault for the accident at an aquarium in the eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk.
She stretched out her arm to snap a photo of Gena opening his mouth and dropped her Nokia phone into the water, reports the Daily Mail.
"This should have been a very dramatic shot, but things didn't work out," said Ms Golovko.
She told keepers what had happened but they did not believe her until they heard the phone ring.
"The sound was coming from inside our Gena's stomach and we understood she wasn't lying," said aquarium employee Alexandra.
Ms Golovko is resigned to losing her phone, but still wants its SIM card back since that has her precious photos and contacts.
The mishap has caused bigger problems for the crocodile, which has not eaten or had a bowel movement in four weeks and appears listless.
"The animal is not feeling well," said Alexandra. "His behaviour has changed, he moves very little and swims much less than he used to."
Dnipropetrovsk chief veterinarian Oleksandr Shushlenko said the crocodile will be taken for an X-ray next week if he continues to refuse food.
